The Canada’s Recovery Plan document details the policies and plans that will be enacted under a Conservative government. It is available online, and I encourage everyone to read it.
Our party recognizes that our economic security relies on and the mental health and wellness of Canadians and vice versa. In its Canada Mental Health Action Plan, the Conservatives have committed to creating a national three-digit suicide prevention hotline and to investing $150 million in the next three years to expand of mental health programs. We have policies for providing security to those in the gig economy and to lift up working Canadians by doubling the Canada Workers Benefit. Importantly, this will be made by a quarterly direct deposit and not by a tax refund at the end of the year. We will give working people real assistance to ensure their continued participation in the workforce.
Many people don’t realize the government support programs for small businesses came too late, were inadequate and so complicated that many businesses decided to forgo programs such as the CEWS and rent relief. The mental and financial pressure on business owners to pay rent, utilities, taxes, and to take care of their staff has been immense. A Conservative government would support business as they re-open and face new challenges, and has pledged to recover the one million jobs lost during the pandemic. Programs like the Canada Job Surge Plan will pay up to fifty percent of the salary of new hires for six months, once CEWS has ended. The Rebuild Main Street Tax Credit will provide a twenty-five percent tax credit to incentivize Canadians to invest in a small business, be it their own or the business of someone they know. There are many incentives to get Canadians traveling, dining and shopping once the pandemic is safely behind us. We have concrete plans that were created with input from business and industry experts to ensure the actions will support the intended businesses and are economically viable.
Secure the future, help elect Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives and get Canada’s economy back on track.
